Competition: The Manchester Report

Do you have an idea that could help to change the world?

Manchester International Festival and the Guardian have teamed up and are in search of contributions to The Manchester Report, the Festivals examination of potential solutions to the global climate change problem.

Whether you are an inventor, a geo-engineer, a policy-maker or a member of the public with a great idea to encourage greener lifestyles, we want to hear from you.

12 successful applicants will be given the opportunity to present their ideas to a high-calibre panel of experts chaired by Lord Bingham and including Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber CBE, in front of a live audience at Manchester Town Hall on the weekend of 4 and 5 July. Ed Miliband, MP, The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, will also be there to answer questions from the panel.

For more information and to enter the competition simply submit your pitch by filling in the short application form available at the Manchester International Festival site here: http://www.mif.co.uk/events/the-manchester-report/

All proposals must be submitted via email to themanchesterreport@mif.co.uk by 5pm on Friday 29 May 2009.

Successful applicants will be notified by Mon 15 June 2009 and must be free to attend the two day event on 4 - 5 July 2009.

Both event and report will be prominently promoted by the Guardian and the BBC, raising awareness of the most promising schemes. The best ideas will form the basis of the Manchester Report, which will be distributed to policy-makers involved in the crucial UN climate treaty in Copenhagen this December.
